"But our citizenship is in Heaven, and from it we also await a savior, Jesus Christ."
It took me a long time and a lot of praying and meditation to finally decide the new title for my blog. I wanted it to come from my heart, and from the Holy Spirit, and I wanted it to be a kinda...sum up of my goal in life, ya know? I have many mantras/favorite quotes but I still couldn't decide on the perfect one.
Fast forward a few months to a family road trip where I am listening to the amazing soundtrack of Prince of Egypt. The song, "Through Heaven's Eyes" came on and it hit me- Heaven. That's my goal- that's anyone who is Christian's goal, to get to Heaven someday. I immediately knew that the title of my blog must focus on that goal. But then came the hard part... how to creatively sum that up in a few words or less?
Let's fast forward another month or so, to my 16th birthday party with some school friends. It was totally God that pushed my friend to create a drawing for me that said the words "glory bound" on it. Is there a better way to put it? (although I really wanted 'homeward bound' but it was already taken haha). To reach our full potential, to give our full glory to God is to reach Heaven. We are pilgrims on a journey, bound for glory with our Father in Heaven some day.
So let's go on this journey together, shall we? :)
Hey. I'm Madeline.
I'm a Roman- Catholic, musical obsessed, sleep deprived teenager who really loves writing and really loves Jesus. Back in 2013, I created my first blog (embarrassingly titled Random Musings of a Catholic Teen) where I rambled and "preached" for a solid three years. During that time, I was blessed to start working at Fire of the Spirit, and today I am the blog manager.
But enough about credentials, here are some random things about me. Let's get to become friends. :)
1. I really like thrift shopping.
2. I don't play sports...why sport when you can sing?
3. I would much rather be in the mountains than on the beach.
4. If I could play any instrument (although I dabble in a BIT of guitar and piano) , it would be the cello.
5. I'm not perfect.
6. I write poetry when I'm sad.
7. If you're looking for me, I'm probably at rehearsal for a musical.
8. I like to bake things.
9. When I was younger I read at least three books a week. I still love to read, I just don't have the time.
10. Teresa of Avila is my patron saint and she is a boss.
Let's notice #5. That's pretty important. I'm not perfect. You're not perfect, and hey- guess what? Anyone who is human is not perfect. Your imperfection is welcomed here. And I hope my imperfection is welcomed in your heart and somehow brings you closer to Christ.
So much prayer and hope has gone into this blog. I have grown so much from the little bitty 13 year old into who I am today, and I hope that Christ has continued to grow in that process so that you may see Him through me.
If anything, see Him. :)
All through Christ,
